Clayton
Day Care
Clayton, CA
Scope: this project, designed and
built by ICG component company WCR was a two – phase project. Phase
I, involved designing, building and installing one 70’x 32’
(2,240 s/f) building on the grounds of the Clayton Valley public Elementary
School in Clayton. The day care had been operating in rented space in
two classrooms that were previously available within the public elementary
school. On short notice, the public school notified the Owner of the Clayton
Day Care that the public school was evicting the day care from the two
classrooms they were renting. The public school needed the classroom space
for their own use. The situation was reported on in the Contra Costa Times
and the Owner of WCR called the Owner of the day care and offered immediate
help. The public school made land available on the public school site
for a new child day care facility to be built. WCR took on the task and
completed the new facility such that the new facility opened just in time
for all the children to continue going to the same site – merely
in a brand new building versus the two old classrooms. The new building
was completed by ICG component company WCR in 1997.
Solution / Benefit: With the advent
of the new building, the enrollment of the day care expanded and the Owner
contracted with WCR with a request to build an identical second building
located immediately adjacent to the first. WCR took on that task and completed
the second building on time and within budget. The second new building
was completed by ICG component company WCR in 1998.
