A high percentage of ICG projects are education related.

The company’s principal focus in the education arena is with Charter Schools. At any one time, ICG has three to six Charter School transactions / projects in the ICG pipeline. Charter School transactions are extremely difficult to structure and the process is long in doing so.

ICG specializes in complete turn-key projects – thus ICG is involved from the beginning in structuring the project from both a financing and design / engineering / construction standpoint. Financing is most always the key. Charter Schools in particular are difficult to finance. ICG has developed an expertise in structuring the financing for Charter Schools – which accounts for the ICG focus on Charter Schools.

Complementing the financing of Charter Schools, ICG in partnership with the ICG sister company – Navante Inc. ICG is also focused on handling all the related site work and installation of Navante’s "Intellalab" turn-key Information Technology Learning Centers described in the Navante web site.

ICG’s focus on educational related projects includes also the private school arena. One of ICG’s most "showcase" projects involves a private Montessori School that was designed and built by ICG to comply with extremely stringent architectural / historical design review criteria imposed by the City of Fremont. The school is located on land that was part of the original Mission San Jose. Accordingly, all the historical / architectural considerations one would expect relative to such a site were brought to bear on this project.

In addition, as work commenced, various Native American artifacts were discovered that resulted in the project falling under the rules and regulations imposed by the State where Native American considerations are concerned. Delay incurred by such matters was accommodated as rapidly as possible with the net result being that the students at the school obtained a first-hand appreciation for the archeological aspects of construction. The sixth grade class also was able to learn a great deal about building design, site improvements, construction per se and the nature of the public approval process that attends all education projects of this nature.

Of the over 300 education related projects designed and built by ICG and / or its component / sister companies the following thumbnail sketches of three selected projects are presented for the reader’s edification.
